A notice now sits at the top of CVS Photo's film-processing page. As of 24 October, it says, CVS is "temporarily pausing film processing services" and is not accepting new orders. Photo printing and personalized photo products carry on. The notice gives no reason, and it does not say when the service will return.

Below the notice, the page still describes what has stopped. Film and disposable cameras could be left at any CVS Pharmacy. Prints from 35mm film and disposables came back on 4x6 paper in seven to ten days. APS, black-and-white, 110, and slide film took about three weeks.

One source (Shotkit) says CVS sends its film to a Fujifilm-run lab in Greenwood, South Carolina. If that lab has stopped, the CVS pause may be the visible part of a larger change.

CVS has not said what will happen to film handed in before the pause. [Confirm with CVS whether orders submitted before 24 October will be processed and returned.]
