Nikon Imaging Japan has opened a two-month maintenance programme for selected manual-focus cameras and Nikkor lenses. Applications run from 1 September through 30 October and the service is limited to Japan.
Eligible bodies include models in the F, F2, F3, FM, FM2, FE and FE2 families. Nikon will clean and inspect them, check operation and make available adjustments; the work can also include replacing body light seals. Eligible manual-focus prime lenses receive cleaning, checks, adjustment and renewed helicoid grease.
This is maintenance, not a restoration promise. Nikon says replacement parts are generally unavailable, so a failed component can still put a camera beyond the programme's reach. The useful offer is narrower: it gives working equipment a manufacturer-run inspection while the knowledge and consumable materials remain available.
